Daniel H. Coggins October 31, 1956 – August 4, 2025
Daniel H. Coggins, affectionately known as Poppa Dan, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on August 4, 2025, at the age of 68, following a recent illness.
Born on October 31, 1956, Dan was a quiet and thoughtful man who found joy in reading, exploring technology, taking short road trips, and enjoying the simple comforts of home. He retired from Tacachale after many years of dedicated service.
Though reserved in nature, Dan had a sharp, dark sense of humor that he shared selectively-but to those who knew him well, his wit was unforgettable.
He was predeceased by his father, Vester K. Coggins. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Griffin Coggins, whom he loved more than anything in the world; his mother, Virginia Patterson Coggins; and his brothers, Mark Coggins and Vester Coggins. He also leaves behind his daughters, Ginny Garske, Vickie Coggins, Hope Martin (Mike Martin), and Holly Crenshaw (Chris Crenshaw); his grandchildren Ashlyn Aylor (Brandon Aylor), Mallory Mullins (Austin Mullins), Keith Crenshaw, Madison Martin, Clayton Coggins, Taylor Wood, and Jordan Dixon; and one great-grandson, Christopher Aylor.
In keeping with Dan's private nature, there will be no funeral or public memorial service. His family honors his wishes and cherishes the quiet, profound impact he had on those closest to him. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Daniel, please visit our Tree Store.
