Daniel F. "Dan" Coughlin Jr.

Daniel "Dan" F. Coughlin, Jr., 84, of Ellington, CT, passed away on December 31, 2025. He was born on May 30, 1941, in Bridgeport, CT, to the late Daniel F., Sr. and Matilda (Bablonka) Coughlin. He attended Fairfield University and majored in Economics. After college, Dan was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam era at Fort Devens in Massachusetts for 2 years. Following his military service, he began his professional career as a data analyst at The Hartford in California before moving back to Connecticut to continue working for The Hartford, and later retiring from SIAC in New York City, making lifelong friends along the way. His passions in life were skiing, running, hiking, chicken parmesan (if you know, you know!), and having a beer and a good laugh with all the friends he made along the way. Known as Father Dan and Dan-O by his friends, he was also a ranked duckpin bowler and avid tennis player. But most of all he loved being a father and grandfather. Dan is survived by his son Joseph Coughlin and his wife Amanda (Dulac) of Prince Frederick, MD, and Sarah White and her husband Donald of Ellington, CT; three grandchildren, Alexis, William, and Cesar Coughlin; his sister, Beatrice Pasciuti (New Rochelle, NY); his former wife, Carmen Coughlin (Tolland); and nieces Roberta Morello (Ryan and son Leo Alexander of Brooklyn, NY), Maureen Pasciuti (New Rochelle, NY), Selina Ryan (Colchester), Megan Charland (Enfield), and nephew Ryan Charland (Stafford).

A celebration of life will be held privately for family and friends at a later date this summer where we can share all the wonderful and silly stories we have about him. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you live life to the fullest, go skiing, raise a glass in his honor, and always have a sense of humor.
