Daniel Anthony Cruz, lovingly called Danny, entered eternal rest on Friday, February 6, 2026. Born on March 14, 1969, Danny lived a life filled with joy, connection, and an unmistakable love for people and music.

Danny attended Warwick High School, where he made lasting memories. He was also a proud Boy Scout with Troop 217 and earned all of his badges, an accomplishment that reflected his dedication and perseverance.

He later attended Creative Options, where he learned valuable life skills that supported his independence and personal growth. Danny was also a devoted member of Smart One, Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides activities and support for individuals with special needs and their families.

Music was one of Danny's greatest passions, especially Motown. He loved to dance and could often be found at the Sock Hop in Newport News, Virginia, where he truly "partied like a rock star." Known as a ladies' man, Danny had a big heart and shared his love freely-everyone mattered to him.

Though Danny had special needs, he gave back generously to his community. One of his most cherished roles was serving as Santa Claus at the annual Smart One Christmas Party, spreading joy, laughter, and holiday spirit to all.

A Home Going Service for Danny will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Weymouth Funeral Home, Inc.,12746 Nettles Drive, Newport News, Virginia 23606 with Visitatio n to follow.

A Repast will follow at Colossian Baptist Church, 856 Old Fort Eustis Boulevard, Newport News, Virginia 23608, beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Danny will be remembered for his vibrant personality, kindness, and the happiness he brought to everyone fortunate enough to know him. His memory will live on through the love he shared and the smiles he inspired.
