Mr. Daniel Dean “Danny” Hooker, 68, of Rural Hall, entered into God’s rest on Saturday, October 7, 2023, surrounded by his brother and sisters who were with him throughout his illness. Danny was born and raised in Stokes County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Lewis and Elizabeth Hooker and a brother, Jesse Leon Hooker. Danny loved life! He liked to dance, drag racing, stockcar racing, football, hunting, riding his motorcycle and spending time with family and friends. He lived many years in Morehead City, where he retired as an elevator repair technician. He knew how to tell a story and had plenty of them, that would leave everyone laughing. Danny will be truly missed by his brother and sisters. He leaves behind his daughters, Shannon Savoie and Shaunda Johansen; a grandson, Garrin Savoie; a brother, Terry Hooker (Allison); his sisters, Kay Wall (Doug), Karen Hicks (Alan), Sherry Ore (Robbie) and Lorrie Navarro; five nieces; four nephews and special friends, Jim Fuller, Jr., Teri Dane and Angela Tate. Funeral services celebrating Danny’s life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with Pastor Rick Craig and Pastor Roscoe Bowden officiating. Burial will follow in Danbury Cemetery in Danbury, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 prior to the service at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to, J.R. Waldroup with Trellis Supportive Care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
