Daniel Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home - Allen on Feb. 4, 2026.
IN LOVING MEMORY

Daniel A. Davis a.k.a. "Funky D"

Oct 01 1964 - Jan 24 2026 Jan 24 2026

Daniel Anthony Davis was born October 1, 1964 to the late Edward Davis Sr. and Rose Mae Edwards Davis. He was lovingly raised by his grandparents, the late George and Lillie Davis on Flake Street in New Orleans, LA, a place that always remained close to his heart.

Daniel maintained a spirit of love, grace and compassion for his family and friends. He lived with gratitude, often reflecting on his life experiences and his walk with the Lord. He was truly the life of the party. Daniel never met a stranger and made friends wherever he went. His faith anchored him, and his spirit uplifted everyone around him.

After relocating to Nebraska, Daniel lived with Uncle Herman Edwards and graduated from Lincoln Southeast High School in Lincoln, NE in 1983. In 1990, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from Grambling State University. In the spring of 1985, Daniel was initiated as a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, Gamma Gamma Chapter, where he formed lifelong bonds of brotherhood.

Daniel enjoyed a successful professional career spanning more than 20 years as a Systems Engineer and IT Manager. He worked with IBM in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, and later with Frito-Lay / PepsiCo, located in Plano, Texas. He was respected for his dedication, expertise, and professionalism.

Daniel leaves to cherish his memory with three sons: Daniel Ruffins, Jordan Davis, Jackson Davis, eight grandchildren (A'Trevian K. Levine, Domanii K. Levine, Kaislei P. Levine, Karizma January, Datralen Ruffins, Daniel Ruffins, Jr., Karlee Ruffins, Tahj K. Ruffins), with another grandson on the way (Jaston Noah Davis, expected May 2026). Daniel also leaves to mourn two sisters, Lillie Ward, Maxine Griffin, along with three Godchildren; his girlfriend and caretaker, Lena McGee; special friends and support system, Fern Johnson, Brion Jackson, Greg Pratt, and Pierre Edmond; two uncles - Herman Edwards and his wife Jean, Isiah Edwards and his wife Marie, and a host of nephews, nieces, one sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law, cousins, colleagues, classmates, fraternity brothers, and dear friends.

Daniel was preceded in death by four brothers: Edward Davis Jr., Willie Davis Sr., George Davis, and Leon Davis; and four sisters: Cynthia Edmond, Delores Magee, Marlene Lemelle and Vanessa Cook.

Daniel A. Davis will be remembered for his warm heart, joyful spirit, unwavering faith, and deep love for his family. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the generations that follow.

May Daniel rest in peace ~ Amen.
