Daniel James Deliz

Capt. (Ret) Daniel James Deliz, 89, of Oneonta, AL died peacefully at his daughters' home in Jacksonville, AL on Thursday, September 14, 2023, with his family by his side.
A Celebration of Life with U. S. Army Honors will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 1330 (EST) at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL with his daughter, Kathy Boling and family members officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL.
Mr. Deliz was born April 3, 1934, in Providence, RI, son of the late Frank J. Deliz and Mary Charlotte Furtado Deliz. He had retired from the U. S. Army after 41 years of committed service to our Country. He was a paratrooper and Vietnam veteran. After his service to our Country, he was called into the ministry and became an ordained minister. He pastored numerous churches over his time in ministry. Mr. Deliz often shared that his testimony was mirrored in the hymn, In Loving Kindness (He Lifted Me). He will be remembered as a man full of stories that he loved to share. In fact, he wrote several down so future generations can remember him. Mr. Deliz was a patriot and a man of faith and family who left an indelible mark on those he loved and protected.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Deliz was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Kathryn Franklin Deliz; two sons Thomas Deliz and John Deliz; sisters Mary C. Marchetti, Rose Petteruti and Agnes Deliz Leber and within hours of his home going, Beverly Daffron joined him; brothers, John Deliz, Edward Deliz, Frank Deliz, Eugene Deliz and Thomas Deliz; two granddaughters Heather Deliz and Kailia Deliz Posey.
Survivors include his three sons Michael Deliz (Pam) of Birmingham, AL, Frank Deliz of Las Vegas, NV and Mark Deliz (Nancy) of Oneonta, AL; one daughter Kathy Deliz Boling (Jeff) of Jacksonville, AL; one sister Ramona F. Deliz; seven grandchildren Jason Deliz, Keri Price, Daniel Deliz, Jordan Deliz, Kai Deliz Posey, Tony Deliz, Marisa Bain, and Robby Bain; numerous great grandchildren and extended family.
