Mrs. Stevens was born April 26, 1947 in Columbus, GA daughter of the late Talmedge Herring and Annie Hagler Herring. Down through the years she worked for Bibb Mill, Jay Pontiac and finally retired from Buffalo Rock with over 10 years of service. Mrs. Stevens also played and sang in a family gospel group, the Surveyors, for many years. More recently, she attended Grace Freewill Baptist.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard W. Stevens and a brother, Mark Herring.

Mrs. Stevens is survived by a daughter, Shannon Tomlin and husband Mark, two sons, Shawn Stevens and Shane Stevens; a brother, Ron Herring; grandchildren, Dylan Tomlin (Katey), Ashley Stevens, Cesley Stevens, Caroline Stevens and Alexis Stevens; great-grandchildren, Riley and Tripp; as well as several extended family members and friends.
