Mr. Hightower was born at home on December 24, 1942, in Columbus, GA, son of the late Robert C. Hightower and Marguerite Moss Hightower. He was employed with Tom’s Foods as supervisor in the peanut cooking and shelling department and retired after 39 years of loyal and faithful service. Tom’s Foods and many of his friends recognized Mr. Hightower as “Uncle Larry”, a man of great character that took great pride in his work ethics. He loved tinkering on his computer, researching news, and finding product facts for family and friends. He enjoyed remote control toys and spending time looking at the stars through his telescope. But his greatest joy was spending time and sharing stories with all his family. He grew up attending Rosehill Methodist Church. In 1975 he joined Lakewood Baptist Church in Phenix City where he helped start the Tape Ministry. He also worked in the TV Ministry helping do the audio for over 30 years and assisting with the choir tours.
Other than his parents, his is preceded in death by a son, Christopher Robert Hightower, and three siblings, Janice Knox, Brenda Karastury, and Ricky Hightower, and beloved dog, Midnight.
He is survived by his beautiful bride of 57 years, Linda Cook Hightower of Phenix City, AL, one son, Brian Hightower and wife Tamara of Phenix City, AL, two brothers, Terry Hightower and wife LaQuida of Columbus, GA, and Roy Hightower and Angela of Midland, GA, brother-in-law, Frank Karastury; three grandchildren, Ryan Richards (Baylee), Trevor Richards (Emma), and Jenna Morales (Dillion) and five precious great-grandchildren, Connor, Bryson, Rylee, Scarlett, and Baker, numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members, and caring friends.
