Dan was born on AUGUST 14, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois, He passed in the hands of our Lord, on October 10th, at 6:48 pm. at Suncoast Hospice, Pinellas Park, Florida.
Dan came to New Port Richey in December of 1975, to complete his undergrad degree in Education at St. Leo's and finish his graduate degree in Adult Education from the University of South Florida in Tampa.
His parents were Otto and Rose Duren, who were the best, Dad from Thomasville Georgia, and mother from Chicago, Illinois.. (who knew something like that would work) for over 40 years, retired in 1973 to New Port Richey Florida.
Dan is survived by; Andrew Duren, Brother, Kristie Duren, Sister-in-law; Scott Duren, Nephew and Godson, Dayna Duren, Niece, and Bridget Duren, Niece In Law; Grand Nephews and Nieces, Brianna Feltych, Kyleigh Duren, Madison Duren, Tyler Jacques, Kaitlyn Jacques, Izabella Jacques, and Kayden Duren.
Friends visitation, Monday, October 20th, 9:30-11:00 am, with a service to follow at 11:00 am, at Brewer and Son's Funeral Home, Michels and Lundquist Chapel. Reverend David Galloway, will preside over the service from St John The Merciful Mission, in Orlando Florida.
Dan will be laid to rest at Bushnell National cemetery with military honors.
Some other information:
Dan grew up in Chicago and local suburbs. In the early 1970s Dan enlisted in the U.S. Army, he was stationed at various locations, but spent most of his time at Fort Bragg North Carolina. He achieved the rank of Spec V, NCO. his specialty was in Training Radio Operators and as a result was not deployed to the war in Vietnam. (thank God) Dan worked and trained at various companies, and served for over a decade as a Psychiatric Technician at a local Mental health hospital, Anclote Manor in Tarpon Springs, Florida.
Dan was also ordained as an Anglican priest, and served a small church in Tarpon Springs, on Alternate 19. Dan had a good way about him, people seemed to like him. He had many friends from various walks of life. He was a good uncle, brother-in-law, cousin and Friend and he was a good big brother. We fought from the time we were young, but we stayed close through out our entire life because our mother told us we had to LOL.
