Daniel Dutton Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 31, 2025.
Daniel J. Dutton, 66 of Wilton, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, August 27, 2025. He was born on May 14, 1959, to John and Patricia "Pat" (Kuhlman) Dutton in Sparta, WI. Dan grew up in Wilton and attended Royall High School where he graduated with the class of 1977.

Shortly after High School, Dan enlisted in the United States Air Force where he was stationed at Blytheville AFB, Arkansas. After serving 4 years, he separated from active duty and returned home back to Wisconsin. Following a small break in service, Dan re-enlisted into the Wisconsin Army National Guard. He proudly served his country for 24 years meritoriously upon his date of retirement from military service. For his next chapter after the military, he went on to pursue his passion of culinary arts. Dan was a phenomenal chef and continued his service to his country by working at both Volk Field and Ft. McCoy where he proudly provided thousands of meals to the men and women still in uniform.

Throughout Dan's military service, he had traveled to all corners of the world, but Wilton was where he called home. That is where he raised his sons, Cory and Matt, whom he was extremely proud of. Not only did Dan serve his country for 24 years, but he was a pillar in the community of Wilton. Dan held numerous roles within the Wilton Fire Department, serving as an EMT, youth football coach, and was a proud member for over 25 years of the Wilton Legion, Post 508 where he was the acting Commander upon the time of his death.

Dan will forever be remembered for his sense of humor, the love he had for his country, his community, and his family. His greatest accomplishment was earning the title of "Grandpa" from his Grandson Brecken, who he loved so dearly.

He is survived by his mother Pat Dutton of Hillsboro, two sons Cory Dutton of Wilton and Matt Dutton of Mauston, and his beloved grandson Brecken. His siblings, Steve (Debbie) Dutton of Norwalk, Joe (Cheryl) Dutton of West Salem, and Lynne (Guy) Nelson of Kendall.

He was preceded in death by his father John.

Friends and Family are invited for a time of visitation Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wilton from 12:30-2:00 pm.

A Memorial Service will be held at the church starting at 2:00 PM. Following the service, military honors will be provided by the Wilton Legion American Legion, Post 508, at the Wilton Veteran's Memorial. After the ceremony a celebration of life will be held inside the Legion from 3:00-6:00 pm.
