James A Dutton

James Albert Dutton, Jr., affectionately known to all as "Jim" was born on October 10, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Virginia Gray and James A. Dutton, Sr. On January 7, 2026 he departed this life peacefully surrounded by family and close friends.

He was educated in the Philadelphia School System, after which he entered the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam, retired United Air Force veteran after 20 years of service as an Aircraft Electrician.

After a career in the military, Jim didn't fully retire as he worked for a short period of time with Home Depot. Then he served his community by working with AARP providing Tax Return services. He enjoyed assisting many over the years with their taxes on an annual basis. In his free time he enjoyed dancing with the South MS Ballroom Dancers. Both he and his wife, Cleta enjoyed their dances and gatherings throughout the year.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents: Virginia Gray and James A. Dutton, Sr. His sister, Delores B. Coleman and his brother, Dr. Charles E. Dutton all of Philadelphia, PA.

He leaves to cherish fond memories, his devoted and loving wife of 56 years, Cleta M. Dutton. Daughters: Trina G. Dutton (Gulfport, MS) and April J. Latta (Whitsett, NC); four grandchildren: Crista Mayfield (Gulfport, MS), Sabrina N. Polk (Newark, DE), Christopher L. Polk and Quintin D. Walker, both of Whitsett, NC. His Aunt, Geraldine Upshaw (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), His Nephews: James Coleman and Dennis Coleman, both of Hampton, VA.

Goddaughter, Taliah G. Washington (Pearland, TX), The Redmond Family, and a host of other relatives and friends.
