Daniel Emond

Daniel Emond, 83, of Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025. Born of French-Canadian descent, Daniel was the last surviving child of six born to the late Armand D. and Helen M. (Parisian) Emond and a 1962 graduate of Massena High School. Daniel served his country with pride as a U.S. Air Force veteran. He carried that same strength and resilience throughout his life - a man of quiet toughness with a famously dry, razor-sharp sense of humor that could catch anyone off guard and leave them laughing.
Daniel was predeceased by his beloved soulmate of 29 years, Ann Emond, who passed away in 2023 and now they are reunited in eternal peace.
He is survived by his devoted daughter, Mary Lorraine, who was faithfully by his side every morning and night, and his son, Daniel Emond. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Mary Ellen (Matthew), Blanco, Chartele (Eric) Scott, Alydia (Ryan) Sleeper, Sean Patrick, Haley, and Ryan Hagadorn. Daniel's heart was further filled with joy by his great-grandchildren: Bradley, Ava, Leila, Ezekiel, and Luciana, who brought light and laughter to his later years.
He loved his time at camp, sipping Chivas Regal with his daughter and reflecting on a life well-traveled - having proudly visited all 50 states, with Alaska and Hawaii standing out as some of his fondest adventures. A lifelong sports fan, Daniel especially enjoyed cheering on Syracuse games, with a particular love for Syracuse football, never missing a chance to root for his hometown team. He was an avid fan of the NY Giants and Buffalo Bills.
Though he wore a rough exterior, those who knew him best knew the deep tenderness he carried - the kind of man who could be both your rock and your soft place to land. Daniel's memory will live on in the stories told, the laughter shared, and the strong yet gentle presence he leaves behind in all who loved him.
Services will be held on Thursday, June 26, at 1:00 pm at Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Syracuse. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes a quiet moment of remembrance, perhaps with a glass of Chivas in his honor.
