Daniel H. Fischer, 74, of Kirkland, IL died on January 11, 2023. He was born on November 24, 1948, in Covington, KY, the son of Earl Harry and Ruth Marie (Hils) Fischer.
Dan married Cindy Ferri in August 1997 at the Rockford Unitarian Universalist Church. After working many years for Rockford Blacktop, he proudly co-founded Quality Aggregates of Illinois along with Sjostrom and Sons, where he remained until he retired in 2014. He served on the board of the Burpee Natural History Museum and was involved with the National Land Institute. Dan loved to travel with his family, and had a goal to visit all the National Parks with his wife. He was a passionate Geologist who will forever be remembered stopping and investigating and explaining every land and rock formation. He enjoyed camping, canoeing, and gardening at his home along the river.
Dan is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; proud sons, Craig (Julie) Fischer and Todd Fischer; and most cherished daughter, Chrissie Fischer. Dan had four wonderful grandchildren, Sam (Jaclyn) Fischer, Alyssa (Cole) Barringer, Emma (Joe Rudisill) Fischer, and Jake Fischer; and 2 great-grandchildren. Always the big brother, he will be missed by his siblings, Dave (Mary Ellen) Fischer, Ken (Kate) Fischer, Nancy (Rick) Noonan, and brother-in-law, Robert Lovitt. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Beth Fischer.
Special thank you to Dan's care team at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center.
