Daniel Frese Obituary
Daniel Henry Frese of Silver Spring, Maryland died on November 9, 2025 from complications of lung cancer.
Dan was born and raised in Washington, DC, where he spent his childhood getting into mischief with neighborhood friends.
He later spent time in Florida before settling in Silver Spring, where he built his life and raised his family.
Dan put care and commitment into everything he did. He founded Crescent Builders, a contracting company he led for decades with pride and a strong work ethic. He turned houses into homes and his customers treated him like family, often sending him home with baked goods, artwork, and even an NBA player's sneakers.
He was a skilled tennis player and later found a new passion for pickleball. He enjoyed flying drones, spending time outdoors, and being with animals. He lovingly cared for his own pets and never hesitated to extend that same kindness to any stray or neighborhood animal in need, even going so far as to bring an injured bird into the house and feeding wild animals from the palm of his hand.
Above all, Dan loved being with his family. He was a devoted husband whose favorite pastime was simply sharing life with his wife-taking walks through the neighborhood, enjoying breakfast together, or finding ways to laugh through life's challenges. He was a loving father, always behind the camcorder at school plays, chorus concerts, and recitals. He supported his daughters through every stage of life, from helping build architectural school projects, to touring apartments, to walking them down the aisle. He was endlessly proud of his girls, celebrating their achievements big and small. Nothing made him smile like his two grandchildren, who brought him joy even on his hardest days.
Dan often told his children, "The key to life is enjoying the passage of time," and he encouraged them to live in the moment. Friends and family can honor him by doing just that.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Lynne, his daughters Kelley Frese and Kristen (George) Marsico, and his grandchildren, Owen and Lilah.
Information about a Celebration of Life will be shared at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to JSSA Hospice would be appreciated.
