Daniel Steven Gauer

Daniel Steven Gauer, age 76, passed away unexpectedly on January 8, 2025 in Chandler, AZ. He was born on August 30, 1948 in Willmar, MN and was raised in Lake Lillian, Minnesota. After graduating from Bird Island-Lake Lillian High School,Dan received his degree in drafting from Willmar Votech.
Dan began his career at Bloomington based Donaldson Co in 1968 as an engineer and retired in 2011 after 43 years with the company. He had a strong work ethic and was proud of his career. After retirement, he enjoyed connecting with former colleagues at retiree social events.
Dan was an avid woodworker and enjoyed creating various projects. From dollhouses and entertainment centers to cheese boards, he shared his craftsmanship with his daughter Stephanie and always reminded her to "measure twice and cut once". Dan also enjoyed playing pickleball, especially down in Arizona at his winter home. He enjoyed watching and listening to Minnesota sports teams while relaxing on the patio or in his garage. Most importantly, family was very important to Dan. Whether it was his own kids or his grandkids, he was always their biggest fan and he looked forward to attending all of their events whenever possible. Dan will be remembered and missed dearly.
Dan is survived by his daughter Stephanie (Dennis) Mohr; grandsons Parker Gauer and Griffin Mohr; Significant other Jean Carter; Brothers Gary (Grace), Dean (Ruth), Robert (Linda), James (Pam); Sister-in-laws Mary (Donald) Emberland, Geneva Burke along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by parents Otto and Jeanette Gauer, son John Gauer and wife Maureen Gauer.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday April 24th, 2025 at Christiania Lutheran Church, 26691 Pillsbury Ave, Lakeville, MN, visitation one hour prior to service.
