Mary Ann Gauer

Mary Ann Gauer, age 99, of Kent, OH, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024 in Smithville, OH.
Mary Ann was born August 16, 1925 in Cleveland, OH to the late John and Gertrude Zolton.
Mary Ann retired from Kroger's in Ravenna, OH, after 30 years. During WWII she worked on B-29s at the "bomber plant," now I-X Center, in Cleveland as a Rosie the Riveter. She volunteered at the UH Portage Medical Center in Ravenna, OH, for 8 years. She was a Meals on Wheels volunteer.
She was an avid square and round dancer, belonging to various square dance clubs. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, and playing cards with friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Swisher (Kenneth) of Smithville, OH, and great grandchildren Ashley and Trent Starr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Gauer; her parents; grandson, James Starr; and sister, Helen (John) Roa.
Calling hours will be held 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM Friday, October 11, 2024 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, October 11, 2024 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 313 N. Depeyster St., Kent Ohio 44240, with Rev. Fr. David Bridling as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Standing Rock Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick's School Endowment Fund, 127 Portage Street, Kent, OH 44240.
