64, of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2025. Born in Providence, he was the beloved son of Joseph Leo Gauvin and Lurana (Burgess) Gauvin. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving sons, Daniel M. Gauvin and his wife Frances, Christopher Leo Gauvin, and Derek Joseph Gauvin; and his cherished grandchildren, Daniel M. Gauvin II, Lilibet Billie Gauvin, and Charlotte Josephine Gauvin. He was the brother of the late Leo “Butch” Gauvin.

Dan was a lifelong resident of Cranston. After a successful music career on the road, he established and operated a local audio/visual company. Music was his passion from an early age. As a lifelong musician and audio engineer, mixing live shows and being “behind the board" was where he thrived most. Sound and music were woven into the fabric of his being—they were his means of expression and a way to bring people together. His mixing board was his brush, and the stage, his canvas. For Dan, producing and mixing shows wasn’t just a job; it was his art, a gift he generously shared with all who crossed his path.

Although Dan humbly referred to himself as a "simple guy," his meticulous attention to detail and dedication to musical excellence were anything but simple. Even during his courageous battle with cancer, Dan remained devoted to his craft while also caring for a loved one. He was often seen working, frequently donating his time, at the Park Theater in Cranston. Despite undergoing extensive treatments, he spent long hours unloading trucks, running sound checks, mixing shows, and breaking down equipment—all while wearing a chemo pump. His resolve to not let cancer define him was an inspiration to all who knew him. He lived his life guided by principles of hard work, fairness, and kindness—values he instilled deeply in his children.

Dan had the privilege of mixing for numerous local and national artists, including Peter Frampton, Sheryl Crow, Dave Brubeck, and Living Colour, among others; however, he was most fond of his time spent mixing for Siren, a local band that toured regionally. His greatest pride, joy and accomplishment was his family. Dan profoundly missed his late brother Butch throughout his life, and we trust they are now reunited in peace. While music was his passion, his family was his purpose.
