Daniel Trevitt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Woodlawn Funeral Home - Cranston on Feb. 24, 2026.
In Loving Memory of Daniel T. Trevitt, May 14, 1952 – February 22, 2026

After 39 cherished years of marriage, we bid farewell to Dan-a devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather, and loyal brother whose warmth, humor, and strength left a lasting mark on all who knew him.

Dan passed away Sunday evening, February 22, 2026 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, following an inspiring 11-year battle with cancer, fought with grace and remarkable resilience.

Throughout his life, Dan held close what mattered most: family, laughter, and meaningful moments shared. He retired from RIPTA in 1996 and spent the next chapter driving a tour bus until 2014-a role he embraced with joy, collecting stories as colorful as the roads he traveled.

One of Dan's proudest privileges was driving NFL teams, including the New England Patriots, often returning home with team hats gifted as tokens of appreciation and camaraderie. Away from the driver's seat, Dan found peace and playful competition on fishing trips with his brothers, always vying for bragging rights over who caught the biggest fish-a rivalry filled with laughter and love.

Born May 14, 1952, in Providence, he was a son of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Sunderland) Trevitt.

Dan is survived by his beloved wife, Paula (Solmonese) Trevitt; his children Sean Trevitt (and wife Melissa), Bryan Trevitt, Erika Besachio (and wife Stephanie Besachio Mancini), and Marc Besachio (and daughter-in-law Adeline Besachio). He was a proud grandfather to Americo "Rico" and Angelo "Ang" Besachio, James and Kara Trevitt. Dan was the brother of Edward Trevitt (and wife Maria Mello), William Trevitt (and wife Elaine), Elizabeth Trail (and husband James) and the late Marguerite Scott, whose bonds with him were deep and enduring. Dan also leaves his brother-in-law Edward Scott and his former wife Pamela Trevitt.

Dan's life was grounded in authenticity, often summed up with his favorite phrase: "True Stuff." That simple declaration carried weight-an honest reflection of his unwavering character and love for the real and meaningful. In every story retold, every laugh that echoes through family gatherings, Dan's spirit will continue to shine. His love lives on-in memory, in legacy, and in the hearts of those he held dear.

His family will hold the visitation Tuesday, March 3, from 8:30am until 10am in the "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am in Our Lady of Grace Church, George Waterman Rd., Johnston. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Memorial donations are greatly appreciated to the American Cancer Society.
