Daniel A. Gentner of Warminster, Pennsylvania, passed away on July 22, 2023. He was 82 years old. Born in Philadelphia to the late Agnes (nee - Johnston) and Joseph Gentner, he was also predeceased by his brother, Charles Petersen, and niece, Joann Gentner. He is survived by his brother Joseph J. Gentner, and his sister Kathleen Woehr and her husband Raymond, twelve nieces and nephews, 23 great-nieces and nephews, and an ever-growing number of great-great-nieces and nephews.
Dan grew up in North Philadelphia and graduated from Roman Catholic High School. He served in the Army on the front lines of Vietnam from 1963-65. Soon after returning home, he began a nearly three-decade-long career with the US Postal Service. Despite earning numerous awards and climbing the ranks of leadership and management, perhaps the most fitting accolade he received upon retirement was a plaque that read "All Around Good Guy."
Dan was a genuinely kind and compassionate person. He wouldn't hesitate to say "yes" to any favor for his loved ones. He had a big heart for rescue dogs, an open mind for politics, and a blind devotion to his teams that can only come from a true Philadelphia sports fan. He also loved to travel and had an appreciate for the arts. He will be dearly missed by his family, especially his "little buddy," his great-niece, Caroline.
Charitable donations in Dan's memory can be made to Wags Rescue at www.wagsrescue.org/donate or Defenders of Wildlife at www.defenders.org
