Dan, as he was affectionally known, grew up in Lake Orion and member of the 1993 graduating class at Lake Orion High School. Dan served as a member of the IBEW Local 58 as a Master Electrician for 27 years. He was a dedicated husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. To know Dan was to love Dan; he wore his heart on his sleeve and lived to take care of his family. He was born to be a Girl Dad and exemplified it every day. We first met Dan when we moved into our new house, which happened to be next to Dan's and his family's home in Oxford. We loved our new home, but little did we know what a blessing and hidden gem it was to become neighbors to Dan and his family. From the day we moved in, Dan greeted us with his big smile and introduced his beautiful family to us. It was so easy to be Dan's friend. He was attracting good people with his genuine smile, kindness, and desire to help. Dan rushed to help when I cut through my irrigation line, trying to plan some bushes around my patio. When my daughter was learning to roller skate, Dan rushed outside and gave us Jordyn's hockey stick to control her balance better and a few advice on how to skate. He told me to keep the stick and keep practicing when I brought it back. I kept the stick to this day, and it was 9 years ago. Dan always offered to look after our little furry guinea pigs whenever we traveled. He would send us pictures and tell us how our guinea pigs miss us. Over the years, we became friends and celebrated birthdays and parties, sitting by the fire, playing Jenga, sipping some whiskey, and talking about life.
I have always admired Dan for his character, openness, and kindness. He was a great husband, role model, father, and friend everyone wished they had. We were among the luckiest ones! We have always felt like part of Dan's family and cherished this connection. We will miss Dan, but his legacy will move forever in all the hearts he touched along his way. We will miss you, Dan, and you will be a compass and a role model to many when it comes to being a fantastic father, husband, and friend! Rest in peace!
