John E. Goik
Bay City, MichiganOur beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully late Sunday, October 13, 2024, at his home with his family by his side, age 71. John was born April 4, 1953, in Bay City to the late Edmund and Kathleen (Jerore) Goik. He graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1971 and was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Hyacinth Church. He married the love of his life Sharon Marie (Helminiak) on September 30, 1972, at St. Hyacinth Church, where Fr. Gerald Kukla officiated their blessed day.
John enjoyed many things, but his true passion in life was golf. Whether playing or watching, golf was always at the forefront for the Goik family. His love for the sport will live on as it's already become a family past time both recreationally and competitively.
One of the things John loved to do was get in the car and drive... destinations often unknown. From the time the kids were young to when it was just him and Sharon, the adventures were endless. Up north was a favorite journey to swim, hike and fish as a family.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Sharon, three children: Stacey (Steve) Dewald, Marci Rozek, and Brent (Melissa) Goik, nine grandchildren: David and Benjamin Dewald, Samantha Rozek (Jacob Kolbiaz), Brianna, and Wade Rozek, Jack, Drew, Cole, and Gavin Goik, two step-grandsons: Justin and Mason Brooks, one great grandson: Judson Kolbiaz, four sisters and one brother: Linda (Dennis) Flynn, Gene (Maureen) Goik, Beverly (Ron) Charbonneau, Helen (Bob) Bublitz, and Emily (Gene) Ryers, sister-in-law Sue Goik, brothers-in-law Ken (Ellen) Helminiak and Tom (Karen) Helminiak, several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents Edmund and Kathleen, father and mother-in-law Gerald and Helen Helminiak and a brother James Goik.
The Goik family would like to thank all the staff at The Care Team Home Health and Hospice in Saginaw for their wonderful care they gave John and his entire family over the past several days.
