Lee Barclay Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Oxford on Jan. 19, 2026.
Lee Trevor Barclay, born on February 16, 1955, in Pontiac, Michigan, passed away on January 16 while surrounded by the love of his family.

Lee was a proud veteran of the Michigan Airborne National Guard, and he often shared stories of jumping out of planes with pride, humor, and a deep respect for his service to our country.

Lee dedicated much of his professional life to a long and respected career in real estate. Over decades of service in Michigan, he helped countless individuals and families find homes and navigate important life transitions. Known for his honesty, vast local knowledge, and commitment to his clients, Lee built relationships lasting generations rooted in trust and care.

Lee most enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He was a devoted sports fan with a lifelong love for University of Michigan and Detroit Lions football, remaining loyal even when the games brought moments of anxiety and disappointment.

Lee found his greatest sense of peace in Cancun, a place he discovered and loved long before it became widely known. There, he created a close-knit circle of friends who became family. Affectionately known as "Poncho," Lee was at his most relaxed in Cancun-laughing easily, living fully, and generously sharing that special place with those he loved.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Violet Helen Horbatiuk; his father, Clinton Herman Barclay; his daughters, Megan and Melissa; and his granddaughter, Maya.

Lee is survived by his loving wife, Maggie; his children, Sara and Gavin (Barclay) Telfer, Pamela and Taj (Barclay) Mathew, Matthew Barclay, Tanya Freeborn, and Nick Freeborn; his cherished grandchildren, Kendrick, Camden, and Lucas; his sisters, Deborah Farina, Judith Warnke (Roger) and other siblings, much-loved nieces and nephews, and treasured extended family and friends.

Lee will be remembered for his deep love of family, his spirit of generosity, and his sense of humor. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the love he shared so freely.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lee's memory to organizations that he cared deeply about: (links further down on the page)

Lee, you were our TRUSTED "go-to" when it was time to buy/sell a home. And when it came time for our daughter, Annalise, to purchase her first home, it was you she chose.
Over the years, you have become a wise, kind and gentle friend of the family.
Truly, we will miss you.
