Daniel "Boone" Harrier, 81 of New London, died Monday, November 10, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. A short graveside service will be held at 4:00 on November 21, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Brooten. The Remembrance Gathering will be from 2:00 – 5:00 Saturday, November 22, 2025 at the Little Crow Conference Center in New London. Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in New London. www.hafh.org
Daniel Ardell Harrier was born on May 2, 1944, in Benson, the son of Myron and Lorraine (Anderson) Harrier. He was lovingly raised by his grandparents, Cornell and Ellen Anderson, on Norway Lake near New London. Boone attended country school in District #16 and New London High School.
As a young man, he and his buddies traveled to California working for a couple of months each year. On one of his return visits home, he met the love of his life, Betty Johnson. They were united in marriage on July 7, 1968 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten. They were blessed with a daughter and son, making their home near New London. Boone worked independently in sales and was a true jack of all trades, buying, fixing, and selling homes, cars, motorcycles, and equipment. Boone loved hunting, fishing, Harleys, and his dogs, especially his faithful lap dog and constant companion, Coco.
He was known as a deep thinker with a quiet strength, a subtle but strong faith and a man of few words whose silence often spoke volumes. His family remembers him as a father who always wanted the best for his children, a generous spirit, and a steadfast champion for the underdog. In celebration of life and friendship, Boone planned and hosted his own 80th birthday party, a gesture that, at the time, seemed out of character, but now is realized as a touching expression of his deep care for his friends and family.
Boone at the age of 81, died on Monday, November 10, 2025 at Cura Hospice of Willmar. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty; children, Michele "Mimi" (Chad) Knutson and Aric (Kelli) Harrier; grandchildren, Karsee (Aaron), Kellon, Tayler, Nixon and Rylie, 5 great-grandchildren, Evyn, Audyn, Vayda and twin girls on the way; foster daughter, Denise Danielson and her children, Tennille (John), Jamie (Tiffany), Jennifer (CJ) and Colton (Aren); her grandchildren, Landree, Finlee, Halley, Rhett and Willow; his siblings, Earl (Paulette), Allen, Lee, Faye (Larry) Paul (Pam) Annette (LaDon), Karen, David (Julie), and sister in law Pam Henze.
Boone was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Cornell and Ellen Anderson; mother, Lorraine Hemze, paternal grandmother Edna Harrier, his in-laws, Lloyd and Eleanor Johnson, and brother in-laws Lloyd (LJ) Johnson Jr. and Steve Henze.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of Boone's life, the family requests contributions be made to Hospice.
