Daniel Houde Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carrier Family Funeral Home & Crematory - Windham on Sep. 30, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Daniel Thomas "Bird" Houde, age 49, was taken from us suddenly after his morning workout on Monday September 29th. Dan was born in Massachusetts to Patricia McKenzie and his late Dad, Thomas Roy Houde. Dan was the oldest sibling and adored his sisters Sarah and Briana. Dan was a hard worker and especially enjoyed working in the yard on his tractor. Dan had an undeniable love for the Red Sox, which he inherited from his grandfather and Dad!

Dan was a very accomplished young man with a good career, beautiful home, but he knew family was more important than all that. The most precious and important things in this life to Dan were his children, Colby, Ysabelle, and Julianne. There are hardly words that can express how deeply he loved them: going door to door selling girl scout cookies, horse competitions, sitting in the cold, rain, or scorching heat at the soccer, baseball, football and softball games, dance recitals every Memorial Day weekend, the endless weekends at cheer competitions… He hardly ever missed one and loved every moment of every event. Dan was a true "girl Dad" sitting patiently while he had a facial or his nails painted. There is nothing he would not have done to try to fill them with love and joy.

Dan loved his closest friends from grammar school, Jeremy, Dave, Scott, Pat and JR. It has brought our family joy watching them grow together in their love of music, the trials, happinesses, and joys that make up life, into loving, caring, men, sons, husbands, and dads. You were all part of the air he breathed! Dan always said the best way to live is to lead with love no matter the situation. Dan was the happiest these past many months with his partner Chantelle. They brough light and great joy into each other's lives, even though short lived, it made all the difference.

Dan was preceded in death by Grandfather Roy Houde, his Dad Thomas Roy Houde and Stepdad John Mckenzie, his Grandmother Joan Newcomb and Grandfather Donald MacNeil.

Dan is survived by his heartbroken children Colby Stenner and his fiancé Melanie Held of Virginia, Ysabelle and Julianne Houde of NH, his Mom Patricia McKenzie of NH, his Stepmom Anne Houde of NH, his two sisters Sarah and Jonathan Paone and their daughters Hailey and Katie of NH, and Briana and Scott Palisoul of NH, his Grandmother Elaine Houde of NH, and his partner Chantelle R. Myers of NH, her two sons Brennan and Austin Matherne, Austin's fiancé Annaliese Thall and their son Blake Thall. Dan had many aunts, uncles, and cousins that he loved dearly and was always grateful for their love and support throughout his life.

Friends and family are invited to Calling Hours on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 10 AM – 12 PM, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087.
