Daniel Lloyd Hunt, 80, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 26, 1945 in Patton, Illinois, the son of Leonard Edward "Jack" and Lorilla Marie (Richardson) Hunt. He graduated from Mount Carmel High School Class of 1963. Dan married Judy Walker on November 23, 1984 and together they enjoyed thirty-five years of marriage before her passing on January 25, 2020.

Dan deeply loved his family and cherished every moment he spent with his grandchildren. He was a dedicated and hardworking man, retiring from Snap-on Tools in 1997 after a thirty-two-year career, including nineteen years as a respected supervisor, where he formed many lasting friendships. Dan also worked at CST in Mount Carmel, Vandalia and Newton. In his younger years, Dan was actively involved in the Mount Carmel Little League, serving as both director and coach. In 1978, he helped coach the team to the state finals. Dan was also a supporter of Mount Carmel High School athletics and a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved animals, especially his dog, Trixie. Dan was a member of First General Baptist Church in Mount Carmel. True to his convictions, Dan's final request for his loved ones and friends was simple: Vote Republican. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.

Dan will be lovingly remembered by his son, D. Brook Hunt and wife, Tina of Round Rock, TX, Tammy (Roger) Irwin of Boulder, CO, and Stacy (John) Allen of West Salem, IL; stepdaughters, Lesia (John) Carr, Teresa (Luke) Colbert, and Mindy Biehl all of Mount Carmel; grandchildren, Ben (Ashley) Huey, Grace (Colten Cotner) Huey, Travis (Riley) Allen, Ryan Allen, Patrick Heffron, Tiffany (Eddie) Welsh, Katie Habuda, Briannah (Nate Pyle) Hunt, Kaitlyn Hunt, Courtney (Ryan Shaw) Carr, Bryce (Lauren) Carr, Drake and Mitchell Colbert, Kane (Carla) Garcia, Gage (Noelle Erickson) Price; great grandchildren, Cole, Daevany, Kyler, Gunner and Omaleigh Huey, Isabella and Maverick Allen and baby boy Price arriving soon; special friend, Linda McGee; and family friend, Louis Garcia.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy; two infant granddaughters, Ashley Hunt and Jessica Heffron; sister, Nedra Hunt.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Thursday, August 28, 2025 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be 12:00 p.m., Thursday, August 28, 2025 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Underwood officiating. Burial will follow at Allendale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dan's memory to Mount Carmel Little League. Envelopes will be at the funeral home or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
