Eugene "Dwight" Hunt, 54, of
Greensboro, North Carolina, decided to reel in his final catch on January 21st, 2026. Born in the same city on September 6th, 1971, Dwight was a true Greensboro original, living his whole life with gusto and a good sense of humor.
Dwight was a master of all trades involving pipes and ducts, working his magic as a plumber with 10ens Plumbing and Repair and later showcasing his skills at Red's HVAC. When he wasn't fitting pipes, you could find him off the grid as an avid outdoorsman, tracking deer or fishing up a storm. His fishing prowess was such that he not only won tournaments but even shared a boat with the legendary Bill Dance.
A man of eclectic interests, Dwight wore his love for tattoos as proudly as his love for dogs, family, food, and professional wrestling. If there was fried chicken, potato salad, or collards around, you could bet Dwight was nearby, possibly cooking it himself. He could be found shooting pool with friends or playing baseball and softball, showing off his athletic side.
Though he joins his grandparents, Chief Jimmy Locklear and Ella Mae Locklear; parents, Buddy Locklear and Annie Manley Walker; and sister, Lesley Bell Owens, in the great beyond, his legacy lives on through his children: Christopher Hunt of South Carolina; Reva Davis and Jermaine Farris of High Point; David Phillips of Utah; siblings, Tonya Locklear of Pembroke; Dewayne Hunt of McLeansville; Tonya Bullard of Greensboro; grandchildren, Deja Farris and Jameer Farris; cousin, Kirk Walker; and nieces and nephew, Harlie Oxendine, Leeann Locklear, and Buddy Locklear and his dear friend, Red.
Eugene's final curtain call will be on Saturday, February 7th, 2026, with funeral services held at 11 o'clock at Triad Cremation and Funeral Service, located at 2110 Servomation Road,
Greensboro, NC 27407. Friends and family are invited to gather one hour prior to the service to celebrate a life well-lived and swap tales of Eugene's many adventures.
