Daniel Matthew Hurlbut

Daniel Matthew Hurlbut of Center Rutland VT passed away on January 21, 2026. He was the son of Hiram and Gladys (Beaman) Hurlbut. Dan attended the University of Vermont.

He was the food and beverage manager at Pico Ski Area in Killington Vermont for 18 years. He also managed Dunkin Donuts in Rutland. 

In his early years, he was an avid softball player in Burlington and Rutland, VT, pitching many winning games. Dan loved playing golf with his golf buddies and was a member of Skene Valley Country Club in Whitehall, NY until recent years. He was a member of St Bridget Church in West Rutland, VT and volunteered for Bridges and Beyond. There he met many people who he transported to various appointments and made lasting friendships.

Dan is survived by his spouse Maxine (Bioty) Hurlbut, Sons Brendan Hurlbut (Alice), Jeffrey Webb (Michelle), Daughter Tanya Witman, Grandchildren Brady and Jacob Hurlbut, Jocelyn and Sammy Webb, his sister Rosemary Overson and brother Dennis Hurlbut.

Dan was predeceased by his son Timothy Hurlbut, sister Nancy Lane and brothers Francis, Patrick, Alba John, Michael, And Richard Hurlbut.

Dan was blessed with a donor heart in February 2002. 

Services will be held at St Bridget Church on Monday March 30, 2026 at 11AM.
