Daniel F. Jones, of Mineola, released his spirit to Heaven on June 17, 2024. Mr. Jones was born on August 13, 1948, to the late James R. Jones and Margaret Agnes (Glancy) Jones. Daniel was a very active person throughout his 75 years, having joined the Navy in 1967. He graduated from the University of Texas-Austin with honors having double majored in Fire Safety and Criminal Justice. Mr. Jones worked several years for Lone Star Steel and was known as an exceptional and intelligent employee of the company. Not ever slowing down, Daniel went on to be employed as an aviation mechanic working on turbine engines. Mr. Jones attended Silver Lake Fellowship Church and was a member VFW Post 7523 in Mineola. Daniel loved to wet a hook hoping to catch a mess of fish and found serenity in putting out birdseed for different species of east Texas birds. He also took pleasure in feeding hummingbirds so he could watch them buzz around his home. Daniel never met a stranger and embraced life to the fullest. He loved people and was always ready to lend a wise piece of advice to help others. Daniel was preceded in death by his father James R. Jones; mother Margaret Agnes (Glancy) Jones; brother Jimmy Jones, Jr.; sisters Roberta Logan and Peggy Ann Abbott. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 34 years Kathryn Owens Jones; son Kenny Vent and wife Leah; daughter Kayla Schumacher and husband Jeriamy; brother David Jones and wife Pat; sister Rose Mary Darr and husband Bobby; grandchildren Kinley, Lanie, Ally, Jacob, Peyton, Zachary, Cooper; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family that will cherish their memory and love for Daniel. He loved to talk. You talk to him for 5 minutes and you knew his whole life story. He was an amazing man that filled up the whole room with his personality. He will truly be missed. May there be the fastest mustang and most amazing roses in heaven for him.
