Daniel Kaczmarczyk Obituary

Daniel J. Kaczmarczyk

Athol, MA - Daniel J. "Kaczy" Kaczmarczyk, 66, of Athol, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family on March 2, 2026.

Daniel, lovingly known as "Kaczy" and "Danny," was born on August 13, 1959, in Athol, Massachusetts, to Anthony and Severina Kaczmarczyk. He was a lifelong resident of Athol and a proud graduate of Athol High School, Class of 1977.

Danny dedicated 25 years of his career to L.S. Starrett before discovering his true calling in behavioral counseling. He went on to work with young people at the Stetson School and CRJ, later retiring from CAPS Collaborative. Helping and mentoring children was one of the greatest joys of his life, and the many young people he guided and encouraged will forever remain part of his legacy.

Danny lived life fully, finding his greatest happiness in time spent with his granddaughters and family. He also enjoyed the simple pleasures of the outdoors - hunting, fishing, golfing, and camping at Forest Lake Campground. He loved playing poker at Foxwoods, playing basketball, and searching for treasures at yard sales. Some of his most cherished memories were made on family trips to Old Orchard Beach, Maine with loving friends. An avid New England sports fan, he proudly cheered on the Patriots, Celtics, and Red Sox. A longtime member of Our Lady Immaculate Church, Danny's faith was an important part of his life and a source of strength and comfort.

Known as the life of the party, Kaczy never met a stranger and made new friends everywhere he went. He had a natural gift for conversation and a genuine interest in people, always ready with advice, a story, or a laugh. He cherished coaching and mentoring children, serving as a coach for T-ball, basketball, soccer, and baseball, as well as YMCA League Director and basketball referee. To many, he was not only a coach and mentor but a steady and caring presence. He was a member of many organizations, including the Elks Club, American Legion, Orange Gun Club, Lithuanian Club, and Franco American Club. He was often the first to lend a helping hand or contribute to local fundraisers.

Daniel is survived by the love of his life, Cynthia (Marquis) Kaczmarczyk; his children, Laura Wall and her husband Kyle River, and Kyle Kaczmarczyk and his wife Amber; and his beloved grandchildren, Sophia and Savannah, who brought him endless pride and joy. He is also survived by his brothers Joseph and his wife Shirley, Saverio and his wife Joan, Anthony and his wife Pat, and Thomas Kaczmarczyk; sisters-in-law Diane and her husband Jim Praplaski, Audrey Thompson, and Jane Giroux; and brothers-in-law Edward Marquis and his wife Ronda, and Leo Marquis and his wife Trudy, as well as many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Severina Kaczmarczyk, and his parents-in-law, Edward and Barbara Marquis.

Danny left us too soon and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His kindness, laughter, and love for people touched countless lives, and if you met Danny even once, you were a friend for life. The memories he created and the love he shared will never be forgotten. Though he is no longer by our side, he will forever live in our hearts.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 4:00–6:00 PM at Mack's Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Rd., Orange, MA.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady Immaculate Church, Athol, MA.
