Daniel Hensley "Dan" Kerr

Daniel Hensley Kerr, beloved son, father, and grandfather, of Cumming, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Dan was born in Athens, Tennessee, on July 6, 1971, the younger son of Larry and Sarah Kerr. He grew up in Athens, Johannesburg (South Africa), Lake Charles (Louisiana), and Wilton (Connecticut), and graduated from Wilton High School in 1989.
Dan earned both his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in finance from Boston College in 1993 and 1994. He had a successful 30+ year career as a bond broker for Truist, though his work never felt like a priority compared to his family and friends.
Sports were a huge part of Dan's life from the very beginning. He played football at Boston College - even appearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated on November 29, 1993, after Boston College's iconic win over Notre Dame. He loved coaching in the Gwinnett Football League and was one of the winningest coaches in the league's history.
Dan was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved spending time in nature with his father, children, and friends. A proud member of the "Apt to Miss" hunting club in Monticello, Georgia, he could be found there most weekends in the fall.
More than anything, Dan loved his family. He was deeply proud of his children and found immense joy in watching them build lives and families of their own. Becoming "Pappaw" was a role he cherished every single day.
Dan is survived by his parents, Sarah and Larry Kerr; his children, Collin Kerr (Lydia), Austin Kerr (Keeley), and Kendall Kerr; and his grandchildren, Kieran and Kayson Kerr. He was preceded in death by his son, Ryan Bishop Kerr; his brother, Read Edward Kerr; his maternal grandparents, Elizabeth and Isaac King Jr.; and his paternal grandparents, Freida and Lawrence Kerr.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 24, at 3:00 p.m. at Rising Church, 710 Power Avenue, Buford, GA 30518. Visitation to follow.
