Daniel Lee Kitterman of Ava, MO
On August 20, 1956 Danny was born to Fred and Linda Kitterman. He was born with wanderlust in his eyes and wander he did. Two sisters joined the family. But, that is a story for another time.
Danny went to school in Tiskilwa, Illinois. He joined the Navy at 17. He was a part of the Seabees and served in Okinawa and Biloxi. They threw him in the water and told him to swim. He had no choice. He learned to swim.
When he came back to Illinois, he tried marriage and a variety of jobs, but nothing worked for him. When the family moved to Missouri in 1979 he eventually joined them. He learned mechanics, but outdoors was on his mind. He loved to hunt, fish, and do anything to be out in the woods.
Horses caught his eye. He went to Kentucky and Florida, training and showing thoroughbreds. This was the job he loved. When he came back to Missouri, he tried marriage, but the wandering took over. He went to Oklahoma and worked as a diesel mechanic and found horses. Marriage once again did not work for him and then he came home to Missouri.
He enjoyed 10 years of living his life in his little house with a variety of dogs and cats. He enjoyed his family. He helped at the Missouri Foxtrotter's shows in Ava every chance he got. He loved his horses.
In March of this year, cancer reared its ugly head and took away his peace. He fought with everything he had. At 3:10 a.m. on May 26, 2025 he lost that battle. A heartfelt thanks to the Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare staff. They took great care of Danny.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Linda, grandparents, John and Mildred Velker, Darwin and Margaret Kitterman.
He is survived by his two sisters and their children, Jill Johnson, nieces, Rhiannon Price, Starra Price and Aimee Johnson. Judy and Tim Hampton, niece, Kimberly and Roger Pearson, grand niece Abrie and grand nephew Eli, niece, Tiffany Hampton and a grand nephew, Gunnar.
So do not fear, for I am with you: do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

Dan was my client for many years with FD Insurance Agency for his Medicare insurance plan.
He was kind and loyal.
I always enjoyed working with him.
