It is with profound sadness that the family of Daniel Craig Koon ("Dan") announces his passing on Thursday, February 29, 2024. Dan was the proudest and most devoted of dads, an adoring husband and best friend, a loving son and brother, a favorite uncle, a committed colleague, and the dearest of friends to so, so many people whose lives he touched.
Dan was born on September 4, 1975, in Rochester, New York, to Pamela and Lee Koon. He is survived by his wife, Marybeth Koon (nee Martin); sons Benjamin, Ethan, and Sam; his parents; and his sister, Laura Koon, as well as a large extended family and countless friends who had the honor and good fortune to know him.
Daniel attended SUNY Potsdam, graduating in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Math and Physics. He was a fraternity brother of The Order of Prometheus at SUNY Potsdam, where he formed many lifelong friendships.
Dan and his wife Marybeth met in 2002 and were happily married for almost 18 years. He was a patient and loving husband and father. He relished his time with his family, loved to laugh hard, and always had time for his sons when they asked him to play video games – even after a long day at work. He loved to cook and host holiday gatherings and was always willing to make dinner or get the kids to bed even when it wasn't "his night."
Professionally, Dan worked for Caliber Imaging and Diagnostics, Inc., for over 20 years, rising to the position of Vice President of US Operations. His time at Caliber included a year living in Munich, Germany, where he and Marybeth welcomed their first son, Benjamin. One of Dan's most valued experiences at work was traveling and meeting people abroad. He held so many colleagues dear to his heart and went to work every day with integrity, commitment, and a work ethic hard to match.
Through the Penfield School District where his sons attend school, Dan served as an Assistant Den Leader for Pack 80. He was heavily involved with the Pinewood Derby, pack meetings, and den outings. He cherished every one of these experiences with his sons, Ben, Ethan, and Sam. He went on to become an active and devoted parent volunteer for Boy Scout Troop 312, enjoying many camping trips with Ethan and making so many friends in the Scouting community.
For all of those who wish to honor Dan, Calling Hours will take place on Friday, March 8th, at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. () from 4 – 7 PM. for a map to the funeral home.
A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9th at 10 AM at Asbury Methodist Church (). for a map to Church.

Following the service, Daniel will be laid to rest at White Haven Memorial Park (210 Marsh Rd, Pittsford, NY 14534).
A reception will take place on Saturday afternoon, and more details will be announced at the service.
