It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpectant loss of our beloved husband, brother and uncle Daniel Edward Leask on February 19, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife Roxana Leask; siblings Debra (Palmblad),Tamera (Chavarria), David H. Leask; nephews Curt and Kyle (Palmblad), Alex and Anthony (Chavarria) and niece Brittany (Hayward). His father Edward C. Leask and mother Janice (Peterson) preceded him. A lifelong resident of Metlakatla, Alaska and member of the Gispwudwada (Killer Whale clan). Daniel had many friends and relatives both local and far who hecared about deeply and remained in contact with. He loved sports and excelled from early age in both baseball and basketball. He coached basketball at the middle and high school levels in Metlakatla.

In later life he organized adult league fast pitch baseball for Whatcom County WA and lower B.C. Canadian teams. He was the family historian honoring both his Native and Scandinavian roots. A true teacher, Dan taught grades K-8th in Metlakatla for 10 years, as well as teaching for Lummi tribal schools. A passionate musician, Daniel played drums and organized several bands. He loved his music. A passionate Pickleball player, Dan introduced the sport to Metlakatla and attended league play throughout SE Alaska. A lover of many things he enjoyed all kinds of experiences. He perfected baking the chocolate chip cookie and always knew where to find the best chocolate cakes. Many loved him and we miss him so, we weren't ready for him to leave us. Daniel had great faith in God and spread the word to others. An upcoming celebration of Dan's life will be held in Metlakatla to be announced
