Daniel MacIntyre Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Farwell Funeral Service, Inc. on Feb. 11, 2026.
Daniel Aloysius MacIntyre, formerly from Nashua, died on February 6, 2026 at the Merrimack Hospice House. Dan succumbed from the devastating effects of a massive stroke. He is profoundly missed by all that knew him.

Born in Chelsea, MA into a U.S. Navy family, Dan was the son of Aloysius P. and Jean Marie MacIntyre. He spent 30 years with the love of his life Claire Dixon, One of eight children, Dan was gifted with a keen sense of humor, a tender loving heart and a quietly adventurous spirit.

Upon graduating from Nashua High School Class of 1973, Dan joined his brother Larry in the Navy. They served together for 4 years onboard the USS. Richard E. Byrd DDG-23. He was honorably discharged as a Second Class Petty Officer. His competitive spirit showed itself during his time on the 'Shooting Richard' Dan by serving as on ship's coxswain and rescue swimmer. His Navy career took him from Orlando, to Norfolk, across the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean and Caribbean Seas.

After his discharge, Dan used the GI Bill to earn an Associate Degree in Machine Tool Science. With a wide area of interests, he spent time as a Machinist, Real Estate agent, bartender and later returning to the machine shop. His adventurous spirit led him to experience sky-diving, scuba, trips from California to Florida, vacations to Jamaica and Grateful Dead shows across the country.

He retired from Temco Tool in Manchester, NH. Just prior to his retirement Dan and Claire purchased their dream home near Lake Winnisquam in Sanbornton, NH where they lived until he was stricken.

Dan was predeceased by his parents, brother Larry and sister Jean. Besides Claire, he leaves behind sisters Suzanne Souza (widow of John) and Rebecca Farina (Bob) and brothers Marvin (Joyce), Joseph (Denise) and Matthew (Tara) as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and in-laws. In addition he was very close to Claire's family with a special place in his huge heart of 'grand-daughter' Abigail.

His family wishes to thank the earthly angels at the Merrimack Hospice House for the extraordinary love and care they provided him in his last days.
