Daniel Joseph Mahoney

94, lifelong Canaryville resident, passed away February 16, 2026. Beloved husband of the late Eileen Mahoney (nee Donnelly); loving father of Carol (Thomas) Bailey, Eileen "Lee" (Will) Schmutz, Margaret "Peggy" Mahoney, Daniel (Donna Fisher) Mahoney, and Robin Mahoney (retired CPD); cherished grandpa of Artie (Kim) Baker, Mark (Alyssa) Baker, Tommy (Kate) Bailey, Brian (fiancé Brittany) Bailey, Matthew Mahoney, Mia (fiancé Allen) Mahoney and great-grandpa Colin (fiancé Amber), Ryan, Charlotte, Abby, Molly, Tommy, A.J., Rowan, Jude, Karsen, Ben, Harper, Wrenn and great-great grandpa Andrew and Addison; dearest brother of Thomas (Bea) Mahoney; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and a very special Thank-you to his beloved niece Cheryl Hawes.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Margaret "Honey" Mahoney (nee Ahern); siblings Katherine "Sis" (late James "Mouse") Hawes and John (late Betty) Mahoney; late son-in-law Arthur Baker III and late daughter-in-law Cheryl Mahoney.

Daniel was a proud United States Navy Veteran and original member of the CVA. In his younger years, Dan was an umpire and coach for Canaryville Little League. He was a dedicated Chicago Sports fan, "Go Go Sox!"

Visitation on Friday, February 20, 2026 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at McInerney Central Chapel, 4635 S. Wallace St., Chicago, IL 60609. Funeral Saturday, February 21, 2026, with chapel prayers at 9:15 A.M. to St. Gabriel Church, 600 West 45th Street for a 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment St. Mary Cemetery, Evergreen Park.
