Daniel Masciarelli, 89, of Torrington, CT, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Hartford Hospital after a short illness. He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years Gina (Bonetti) Masciarelli who he deeply missed.
Daniel was born September 11, 1934, in Orient, PA. He was the son of the late Torello and Angeline (Zaccagnino) Masciarelli and moved to Torrington in 1943.
Daniel enlisted in the US Navy, Seabee Reserves. An electrician by trade, he worked at Waterbury Store Fixture, Ducci Appliance and finally the Torrington Company. He was a jack of all trades, seemingly able to fix or build anything. He was a dependable man, always there for his sisters and their families. Daniel was always working on his beloved property or involved in different projects with his father, sons, and brothers-in-law., Roy, Addo and Mike. He was an avid lover of dogs and cats which he always had. You could regularly find him tending to his chickens or working in his massive vegetable garden or enjoying his afternoon coffee with Gina.
Daniel is survived by his sons David (Annamarie) Masciarelli, and Roger (Michelle) Masciarelli; his cherished grandchildren, Nicole, Brian, Mark, Jeffrey, and Kristin; great grandson Emil and future great grandchild to come, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins, and finally his beloved dog Reba, who already misses their walks up the hill and meals with “Dad”. He was predeceased by his younger brother David Masciarelli, sisters Mary (Joseph) Milanese, Josephine (Hugo) DeLaurenzio, Jean (Roy, Michael) Lynn Ducatelli, also brothers-in-law Ezio (Helen) Bonetti and Addo (Lois) Bonetti.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and techs who cared for Daniel during these last few months.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Cemetery, 236 East Pearl Rd., Torrington, CT with full military honors accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Daniel may be made to the Little Guild of Saint Francis, 285 Goshen Tpke., West Cornwall, CT 06796
