Daniel "Dan" Frederick McConomy, 83, of St. Joseph passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025, at Corewell Health Hospice and Palliative Care of Southwest Michigan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph.
Dan was born on May 17, 1942, in Benton Harbor to the late Alexander and Marietta ("Handy") McConomy.
Dan was a 1960 graduate of Benton Harbor High School. He served his country while in the U.S. Army from 1960-63. Dan had a 30-year career with the Coca-Cola company and then with Boelcke Heating & AC for 10 years, where he was known as "The Voice" for his distinctive, deep voice. He enjoyed golfing; his proudest moment was shooting a hole-in-one at Pipestone Creek. He also loved cruising around in his car on his daily "tours" and trips to Colorado. He had an interest in the local history of Benton Harbor and St. Joseph, and still visited the House of David, home of some of his greatest childhood memories. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Dan is survived by his children: Daniel (Jeanice) McConomy, Deborah (Ivan) Price, David (Cheri) McConomy, Lori (Michael) Brown and Christopher (Tracy) McConomy; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and his long-time girlfriend, Linda Berry.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Judith Such.
Visitation with the family from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, from at Starks & Menchinger Chapel. A celebration of life service is at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial service will be on Monday, Sept. 8, in Hickory Bluff Cemetery, Stevensville for anyone who would like to attend.
