Daniel Paul McGuinn

Daniel Paul McGuinn, 85, of Rutherfordton, NC passed away Friday, June 20, 2025 at Fair Haven of Forest City with his beloved wife Iris and family by his side.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Addie Lee Ruff McGuinn; a brother, David McGuinn and a sister, Lucille McGuinn Beddingfield.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 66 years, Iris Barnes McGuinn; daughter Lynn McGuinn Roper, and husband Jeff; grandson Dustin Roper, and wife Beth; and two great-grandchildren, Kaitlynn and Elaina.
Daniel lived life to the fullest, always wearing a smile on his face. Some of the most interesting and unique experiences he had were with his bride, Iris, by his side. They were married on January 15, 1959, after meeting at Dean & Floyd's Grocery in Spindale. Throughout their marriage, they went on many adventures together including: riding motorcycles, selling antique toys, doing carpentry work, and modeling for Old Farmer's Ham at various Wal-Mart locations. They never turned down an opportunity for a good time. Most recently, they very much enjoyed their work at the Mountain State Fair in Arden, NC as well as the Spartanburg County Fair.
Daniel was a faithful member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church in Gilkey, NC until Iris was no longer able to attend. He made it a priority to be with her every single day. You could always find him visiting with her for many hours a day at Fair Haven before he became a resident himself.
The pride of Daniel's life was his family. He loved to speak about his wife, daughter, and grandchildren any time that someone would listen. He always worked hard, and you could always count on him being in overalls daily. Best of all, he stocked his pockets with little prizes just waiting for little hands to find them. His great-grandgirls loved digging for treats, and he loved being the one to share them.
The world is a little dimmer without Daniel's shining smile and presence. If he were to give anyone advice, he would say "Keep life simple. Keep life fun. Ride like the wind. Love Jesus and your family with everything you have in you."
A celebration of Daniel's life will be held from 1 - 3 PM Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Mountain Creek Baptist Church.
