Daniel McKee Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Apyre National Cremation Services - Port Reading on Jan. 19, 2026.
Daniel Francis McKee, beloved father and grandfather, passed away at his home in Pittsburgh, PA, on January 14, 2026, at age 78. Born on January 23, 1947, he lived in many places in the Eastern and Midwestern U.S. before settling in Pittsburgh, his home for the last 35 years.

A proud veteran, Daniel served as a radio operator at Fuchu Air Station in Japan with the U.S. Air Force and later served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Saratoga (CV-60). His commitment to his faith and community continued throughout his career as the proprietor of a Christian bookstore in Bradford and a long-time officer in The Salvation Army.

Finally, he worked in customer service as a sales clerk later in life.

Daniel was a man of faith and trusted in Jesus as his Savior. His routine was often centered on his faith, as he spent time listening to his favorite radio Bible teaching programs, a practice that grounded him throughout his life. He most recently attended Orchard Hill Church in Bridgeville.

Daniel never met a restaurant he didn't want to try; he was a true enthusiast of dining out and loved the social connection of a shared meal. He enjoyed watching true crime tv and interacting with his guinea pig, Faith. He appreciated classic car shows--in particular 1957 Chevys--and the occasional ride on an old-fashioned passenger train. In his younger years, he was an avid motorcycle rider and guitar player. In the era of film, he was a talented photographer, capturing everything from quiet landscapes to the joy of several weddings.

He is predeceased by his parents, Wayne and Mae McKee, and his sister, Patricia Dingman. He is survived by three children, Daniel W McKee, of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, Pamela (Matt) Smith, of Mulberry, FL, and William (Bethany) McKee of Canandaigua, NY, as well as seven grandchildren.

He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered as we wait in the hope of being reunited with him in heaven.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the National Veterans Foundation to support their 'Lifeline for Vets' program. Daniel was proud of his military service, and your gift helps ensure that no veteran has to face a crisis alone. Contributions can be made online at nvf.org or by mail to: 5777 West Century Blvd., Suite 350, Los Angeles, CA 90045.

Please accept my sincere sympathy. Danny and his family
were great friends of mine and my mother, Betty Gatlin.
We attended the Salvation Army in New Brunswick, NJ.
I have many happy memories of that time spent with them.
Kind Regards,
