Daniel William Mealman, age 70, of Milford, Iowa passed away on February 15, 2026, at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake, Iowa.
Dan was born January 8, 1956, in Hartley, Iowa, the third of four children to William Mealman and Betty Koster Nellis. He spent most of his childhood in the Spencer, Iowa area.
He went to school in Spencer, then Royal for a time before moving to Hospers. He graduated from the Auto Mechanics program at Northwest Iowa Technical College in Sheldon.
Dan was a reliable, hard conscientious worker, a good father and always put his family before himself. He was a loyal friend and was always there for other people. He overcame hardships and people experienced his kindness and selflessness and sense of humor.
Besides working on cars, he was employed at Stylecraft as a framer in Milford and Tom’s Plumbing in Arnolds Park.
He loved his motorcycles and enjoyed his poker runs, snowmobiling, and fishing, always trying to get the “big one” and friendly competition with his brothers, Bill and Joe, and cousin, Kenny. They had many fun times together. Organ donation was one of Dan’s final acts of kindness.
He is survived by his stepchildren, Tammie Timm of Milford and Junior Schiller of Estherville; brother, Joe Mealman of Tipton, Iowa; brother, Bill Mealman of Mt. Vernon, Iowa; sister, Bonnie (Mac) McEachern of Lawton, Oklahoma; sister, Kathy (Rolf) Carlson of Milford, Iowa; cousin, Kenny Ewoldt of Fostoria, Iowa; step-sisters: Annette Palmer of Henderson, Nevada, Tina and Sarah Palmer of Mt. Vernon, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and many other family members, as well as his cat and dog.
He was preceded in death by both parents, grandparents, and brother, Bobby Mealman; stepmother, Bonnie; and nephew, Jeremy Erdmann.
There will be a Celebration of Dan’s Life on Thursday, February 26, 2026, starting at 5:00pm at Boss’ Pizzeria and Sports Bar in Okoboji.
