In Loving Memory & Honor of Mr. Daniel Jose Medina Mr. Daniel Jose "Papo" Medina, age 74, peacefully moved on with Our Good Lord & Savior November 18th, 2025, in Collingswood, New Jersey.
In Daniel's retired years, he traveled with his spouse and son. He also refined many of his interests and hobbies while supporting his son's collegian and career goals. Together, they would enjoy following the Phillies, listening to music, and getting into long philosophical conversations about life.
Mr. Medina valued quality family time, sharing memories and always had a natural gift for uplifting spirits.
Born on September 27, 1951, in Camden, New Jersey, Mr. Medina dedicated his life to service through social work and public health administration. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers The State University in 1971 and a Master of Social Work from Rutgers Graduate School of Social Work in 1981.
A licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey, he also continued to develop his professional career, earning certifications and gaining experience as a School Social Worker, Probation Officer, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapist.
His specialized training included counseling patients with HIV and managing casework of various clinical psychiatric patients. ___________________________________________________
Daniel J. Medina, M.S.W. Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Medina successfully completed impactful work that involved long listed arrays of tasks and duties. These included positions such as Certified Bilingual Family Counselor with the Camden County Health Department; Assistant Executive Director at Group Homes of Camden County, Inc.; Psychiatric Therapist with the Hispanic Health & Mental Health Association of NJ and Comprehensive Mental Health & Mental Retardation Inc. in Philadelphia; Social Worker with Volunteers of America, NJ; and Caseworker Supervisor at the People's Resource Center.
Mr. Medina's enduring social work contributions were often recognized by healthcare administrators with honors. Furthermore, as a hardworking dedicated professional, Mr. Medina was able to achieve Certificates of Appreciation from Camden County in 2008 onward and a 10-Year Recognition Award from the Labor Management Committee in 1998.
Daniel supported public health initiatives to prevent and fight against the HIV-AIDS Epidemic, bolster the Flu Shot Program and offer support to the Influenza/Pneumonia Program in Camden County, NJ.
He was a compassionate man with a strong faith and kindness for others. He was joyful, humble, committed, and dignified throughout his career and private family life. He was a man who loved his country, culture & heritage.
Mr. Medina was a man of service with a skilled aptitude, genuine care, interest, and respect for the sciences especially towards the mastery of psychology, particularly specializing in social work. He held many certifications throughout his life's work and was an active member of the National Society of Social Workers. Mr. Medina was the type of man that would genuinely give someone the shirt off his own back for those in need, humbly and without hesitation.
Mr. Medina was not only a scholarly man with strong values, principles and outstanding discipline but professionally and discretely practiced relentless, courageous dedication when helping others. He shed light on behalf of those in need throughout the duration of his entire life with words of encouragement and motivation in addition to his professional job requirements. He was a great man of various career positions which included skilled duties and career learning methods that attributed to many long-lasting memorable accomplishments.
Mr. Daniel Jose Medina was a bi-lingual & bi-cultural Spanish & English professional.
Mr. Daniel J. Medina is remembered by his wife Maria Elizabeth Figueroa Medina; his son Daniel Christopher Medina; his stepdaughter Elizabeth Christina Lueck; and his sisters Marta Alicea Medina, Nicolasa Medina, Miriam Miller, and Carmen Rodriguez. He is also remembered by his nieces and nephews: Cheyenne Prawdzik, Israel Miller, Bienvenido Diaz, Stephanie Miller, Racquel Rodriguez, Joel Alicea, Domingo Rodriguez, and Alyse Watson.
Roman Catholic Faith Raised with a strong Spanish, Roman Catholic upbringing, Mr. Medina found strength and peace in the Christian Faith.
During his early adult years, spirituality and reasoning kept him curious and gave him an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. His interests in psychology, theology and the humanities helped cultivate a distinguished moral foundation with classical values and timeless love, admiration, and respect for life.
Relentless optimism & positive attitude mentorship was important to him. He drew strength by having a love for Jesus Christ Our Lord & Savior. Although at times he did not have an active participating role in the church, his values and service towards others were with sincere intentions of counseling, healing, love, and affection.
