Monroeville

Daniel Murphy, 74, residing in Monroeville, passed away Monday evening, March 9, 2026, at UH Medical Center in Cleveland after a brief illness.

Daniel was born on December 20, 1951, in Sandusky, to the late Wallace and Rita (Dugan) Murphy.

Dan graduated from Margaretta High School and received an associate's degree from BGSU Firelands College. He was employed as a driver for a wine distributor and OE Meyer Co. before retiring from Wilbert Plastics in Bellevue as a quality insurance technician for several years. Dan's true passion in life was music. He loved playing the guitar and piano and sharing his voice, performing with several bands as well as in many solo gigs throughout the years. Music was a constant joy in his life. In addition, Daniel enjoyed reading, writing poetry, and spending meaningful time with his family and friends, whom he cherished deeply.

Dan is survived by his sons, Michael Murphy and Adam Murphy; a grandchild, Babe Murphy-Blue; two sisters, Michelle "Mickey" (Glenn) Holzhauser and Nora (Mark) Kaufman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Dan is preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen (Woell) Murphy, in 2010; sister, Maureen Bluhm and brother-in-law, Glenn Bluhm.

Private family services will be at a later date. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting family with arrangements.
