Dan "Mountain Man" Nalepa of Yale, MI, packed up his Harley and got out of here to go hunting. It's the hope of his younger generations that he now has the answer to the burning question that has plagued him for years: "Them your keys?"
Dan passed away due to complications of kidney failure at Ascension Hospital in Detroit, MI, at approximately 10:00 p.m. on July 12, 2022, 8 days shy of his 63rd birthday. Born the second of three siblings to the late Beatrice and Dennis Nalepa in Yale, MI, on July 20, 1959.
Mountain Man was known for his ability to turn a phrase with his booming voice and contagious smile. His greatest joy was spending time with those he loved, but when he wasn't doing that, he would was enjoying his hobbies. Dan's hobbies included hunting, fishing, smoking, and causing mischief and mayhem wherever he went. Rarely a day passed that he wasn't in town at the Red Dog Café, Yale, enjoying a cup of coffee with his breakfast and catching up with his friends.
Dan was a jack of all trades, most notably known for his carpentry skills. There wasn't a house or business in all of Brockway Township he didn't work on. He took great pride in what he had achieved throughout his lifetime; if you had the privilege of riding with Dan on the back roads, you'd remember he often reminisced of his accomplishments pointing out projects here and there.
Dan is survived by his three daughters, two sons-in-law, and six grandchildren; he was a brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Daughter Angela Nalepa (his favorite), daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Erik Schroeder (granddaughter Amelia, and grandson Ethan), daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Joe Reusser (granddaughters Harper, Riley, grandson Carter, and another little one expected this August), sister Marie Watkins (late brother-in-law Ron), sister Karen Hein, and nephew/hunting buddy/honorary son Jess Gaddis.
The family honors the memory of Dan and invites you to visit and share memories Saturday, July 23, 2022, from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale. Memorial services will begin at 4:30 p.m. Rev. Lisa Clark, pastor of Capac United Methodist Church, Capac, will officiate. A luncheon will follow at the Brockway Township Hall.
