June Catherine Chene

June Catherine Chene, 72, of Macomb, passed away Monday, January 26, 2026.

She was born November 5, 1953, in Harrison Township, the daughter of the late Jerome Thomas and Joan Emma (Klix) Ficht.

Her marriage to Joseph Paul Chene was on August 24, 1973, at St. Margaret of Scotland, St. Clair Shores, Michigan. They spent 45 years together before his passing on March 17, 2019.

June graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Master of Nursing degree. As a dedicated nurse, she worked hard and became the Supervisor for the Visiting Nurse Association. With another promotion, June became the Chief Operating Officer of the Private Duty and Skilled Nursing Agency. June was an active parishioner of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Richmond, where she served on the Merciful Love of Jesus Health Committee. June enjoyed reading, crocheting, diamond dots and other crafts. More than anything, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and children.

Surviving are three children, Laura (Don) Van Houtte of Avoca, Matthew (JP) Chene of Richmond, and Jerome (Chelsea) Chene of Sterling Heights; grandchildren, Payton, Hannah and Dylan Van Houtte, Kai Chene and Arianna Chene; brothers and sisters, John (Sharon) Ficht, Jerry (Karen) Ficht, Jill (Terry) McCormick, Joel (Mary) Ficht, Janis (Sam) Pugliese, Jean (Doug) Brandt, and Julie (Dale) Albright; her companion, Dell Silorey; 23 nieces and nephews, 15 great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as many cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her late husband and parents.

The family honors the memory of June and invites you to attend her Rite of Christian Mass on Monday, March 2, 2026, 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, with 10:00 a.m. visiting. Fr. Mark Livingston, pastor, will officiate. A luncheon will follow at Maniaci's Banquet Center, Richmond, from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
