CHENE, Joseph Ernest - Age 98, of Fenton, died Monday, May 28, 2012 at Linda's Place, Linden. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, June 1, 2012 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Pastor Dean Dumbrille officiating. Burial immediately following at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church, 806 Main St, Fenton, MI 48430. Mr. Chene was born in Utica, the son of Isadore and Maude (Miller) Chene. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy. He married Pauline Neely January 11, 1936 in Fenton and she preceded him in death October 6, 1996. Mr. Chene retired from the Fenton Post Office. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a former member of the Isaac Walton League. He enjoyed golf, bowling and gardening. Surviving are: 2 son, James "Jim" Chene and Gerald "Jerry" Chene both of Fenton; 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold Chene and sister, Helen Colburn.
