Mary was born May 7, 1944, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, to George & Winnifred (Whalen) Allen. She graduated from Lapeer High School in 1962, and attended Flint Junior College. She married her husband of 60 years, Timothy J. Arthur, on October 23, 1965, and together Mary and Tim raised their family in Linden, Michigan.
She was a longtime member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Fenton, where she and Tim chaired the Applefest road race for many years, were Eucharistic Ministers, and took communion to shut-ins. More recently, she & Tim began attending St. Augustine Catholic Church in Howell.
She and Tim spent many years camping with their children and grandchildren, and loved camping on the beach at Wilderness State Park in Carp Lake, MI, where they camped several times each year. She loved to garden, sew, knit, crochet, and created many beautiful quilts over the years. She & Tim traveled all over Michigan photographing Michigan lighthouses, and Mary created forty-eight “Aunt Mary’s Originals” Lighthouse quilt patterns. Mary adored her grandchildren, and nothing made her happier than hearing about and sharing in their accomplishments and attending their sporting and school events.
Mary is survived by her husband, Tim; her three children, Andrew Arthur of Keego Harbor, Anne and John Krist of Flint, Matt and Fredy Arthur of Linden; her seven grand-children: Zachary, Brendan, and Chloe Arthur, Karleigh (fiancé Josh), Kennedy, and Kassidy Krist, Corynn Arthur; her brothers Mike (Christy), Pat (Judy), Tom (Janet), John (Sue), and Tim (Patty); sister-in-law Carolyn Swanson, and several nieces and nephews.
