William Nugent Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kaatz Funeral Directors Inc - Yale on Jan. 30, 2026.
William "Bill" Nugent, 86, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026.

William "Bill" was born on May 4, 1939, in Roseburg, Michigan, to the late Earl and Vera Nugent.

He married the love of his life, Carol, on January 28, 1961 at the Methodist Church in Yale, MI.

Bill owned and operated Nugent's Barber Shop in Yale, Michigan, for 41 years. He took great pride in his work and truly appreciated his customers and their loyalty over the years. For many, his shop was more than a place for a haircut-it was a place for conversation, laughter, and stories, all of which William delivered with unmatched charm.

He loved hunting and had a special fondness for the Chevelle, which he admired with pride. After retiring, William discovered a passion for woodworking, spending countless hours creating with his hands. He always had a dog by his side and never missed the chance to share a story-something he was especially known for, thanks to his remarkable memory and gift for storytelling. He was also a member of the Wadhams Church of Christ and loved playing pool with his friends.

A natural prankster with a quick wit, Bill always had a clever remark ready and could bring a smile to any room. Above all else, he loved his family deeply, and they were the center of his life.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Carol; children Jan (Jim) Vincent, Shelley (Chris) Seigel, and Tom (Roxanne) Nugent; grandchildren, James Vincent, Daniel Vincent, Ty Vincent, Lindsay Seigel, Lauren (Trevor) Phipps, and Dustin (Chelsey) Schoen; great-grandchildren, Nolan Vincent, Lillian Vincent, Leland Vincent, and Trenton "Tater" Phipps; as well as many friends, customers, and extended family.

The family honors the memory of Bill and invites you to visit and share memories on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the 2:00 p.m. funeral service at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
