Daniel Lucas Neal
Sunrise February 9, 1989
Sunset March 10, 2026
Daniel Lucas Neal was a man of profound kindness, quick wit, and an immense heart. Through laughter, love, and the meals and moments he shared with others, he made the world a warmer, more flavorful, and much brighter place for everyone fortunate enough to know him.
To Daniel, cooking was more than a hobby, it was an act of love. He took great joy in preparing fresh, hand-crafted dishes, believing that a good meal could heal the soul and bring people together. That same passion extended behind the bar, where Daniel was a talented mixologist and bartender. With creativity and care, he crafted cocktails just as thoughtfully as he prepared his meals, delighting friends and family with drinks that were as memorable as the moments shared around them. Whether in the kitchen or behind the bar, Daniel’s greatest joy was creating experiences that made people feel welcome, cared for, and connected.
When he wasn’t in the kitchen, Daniel found magic in the worlds of The Legend of Zelda, Harry Potter, and his favorite anime. He connected deeply with the themes of heroism, friendship, and adventure found in these stories, often reflecting those same loyal and brave qualities in his own life.
Daniel’s humor was his superpower. Armed with a quick, witty sense of humor, he had the uncanny ability to walk into any room and immediately lift the spirits of those inside. His laughter was infectious, and his smile was a constant reminder not to take life too seriously, even in the hardest of times.
Daniel leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will continue to inspire those who were lucky enough to call him a friend, a brother, and a loved one.
His love for his family was his greatest masterpiece. He is survived by his devoted husband, Edd Mares, who was the light of his life. His memory will be cherished by his mother, Tamra Cruz, and his bonus dad, Christopher Cruz; his maternal grandmother Janice Smith; his dearly loved sister, Rosie Chacon; and his bonus brother and sister, Brandon Cruz and Jocelyn Cruz. Daniel also leaves behind his beloved nieces, Toni Gonzalez and Kaiden Gonzalez, and his nephew-in-law, David Garcia, all of whom brought him great pride and joy.
He is preceded in death by those who surely welcomed him with open arms: his father, Michael Neal; his sister, Natasha Neal; his Great Grandma Rosie; his Nana Rita; and his Grandpa Tom.
May we honor Daniel’s memory by sharing laughter freely, gathering often around the table, and always finding light, even in the darkest of times.
“Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” — Albus Dumbledore.
