Daniel Nichter Obituary
Dan was born on August 12, 1954, in Fort Wayne to Jerome and Dorothy Nichter. He graduated from New Haven High School in 1972 and received his Bachelor of Science from IPFW in 1984.
He was a Senior Software Engineer for Raytheon before retiring in 2018.
Dan married the love of his life, Dawn, on September 6, 1991.
Dan enjoyed the lake, Purdue basketball, anything to do with NASA or space and going out for breakfast. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. Dan was a sweet, caring, gentle and kind soul, always thinking of others.
Surviving are his loving wife, Dawn of Angola; children, Rick "R.A." (Melissa) Yarger of Denver, Colorado and Megan (Neal) Murray of Fort Wayne and four grandchildren. Also surviving are his 9 siblings, Kathy Mowery, Vicki (Doug) Brooks, Mary (Dan) Eakright, Mike (Judy) Nichter, Denise Hill, Larry (Kim) Nichter, Tom (Meg) Nichter, Chuck (Becky) Nichter and Steve (Theresa) Nichter.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.

I worked with Dan years ago on the Compass Call program. He was a valued member of our team.
I remember when he first told me he was dating Dawn. He was overjoyed. After they married, Dan seemed so content and complete. Family life certainly agreed with Dan and enriched his life.

Dan was light in the room at Rock Steady Boxing, always an encouraging word to add to the mix. His Gentle spirit will always be remembered . May he receive his eternal reward.
