Daniel R. Philhower Sr.

It is with deep sorrow and remembrance that we announce the passing of Daniel Ray Philhower, Sr., who left us peacefully on March 1, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on November 21, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Daniel's life was a testament to resilience, love, and the joys that can be found in both family and the great outdoors.
Daniel was a proud veteran who served in the Army, enlisting on September 30, 1970, and reaching the rank of Specialist 4 before his honorable discharge on April 25, 1972 during Vietnam. His service was just one facet of a life dedicated to contributing to his community and family. Daniel was a skilled machinist and later retired as a quality controller with Southern Ohio Manufacturing, leaving his mark as a dedicated worker and a friend to many.
Family was the cornerstone of Daniel's life. He is survived by his loving daughter, Tina (Don) Bennett; his devoted son, Daniel (Barbara) Philhower, Jr.; and three sisters, Debbie, Carla, and Karen. He took great pride in his grandchildren-Adam, Erica, Mateo, Heather, Daniel III, Mason, Mackenzie, and Madison-and was especially joyful in watching his great-grandchildren grow-Kenley, Gianni, Emonni, Emilana, Kristopher, Cayson, Daniel IV, and Eloisa. Daniel was a beloved uncle with many nieces and nephews who will carry fond memories of his kindness and generosity.
Reflecting on a life well-lived, Daniel found immense joy in the outdoors, where he cherished moments fishing and camping with family and friends. Known as a giver, he selflessly helped many throughout the years, always lending a hand when needed. In quieter moments, he enjoyed his time at home, often watching Fox News and staying connected to the world around him.
Friends and family are invited to gather and honor Daniel's life at Evans Funeral Home in Goshen on March 10, 2025. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Goshen Cemetery with military honors, where we will bid him farewell and celebrate the legacy of love he leaves behind.
As we remember Daniel Ray Philhower, Sr., let us carry forward his spirit of kindness, passion for life, and deep devotion to family, ensuring that his memory continues to shine bright in our hearts. Daniel was preceded in death by: parents Robert and Joyce Philhower, daughter Crystal Philhower, and brothers Pete, Andy, Bob, and Mike.
